The first half of Valhalla Rising was basically ruined for me. Has anyone else had this problem?</p> <p>I'd rather be surrounded by Blackberry addicts than have to experience that again. If they can ask everyone to turn off electronic devices, it shouldn't be too much to ask for odourless food as well. I don't mind the smell of popcorn -- that a normal theatre smell -- but that's all I want to smell. Some very good stuff there... and it's free. Screenings of concert films, events promoting films (they had women's roller derby yesterday promoting Whip It), concerts (New Zealand's the Topp Twins did a great show last night--so funny and entertaining; Keisha Castle-Hughes was in the audience), and celebrity appearances (Drew Barrymore and the entire cast of Whip It appeared--before their appearance at their premiere screening). Lots more stuff throughout the week.</p> <p>TIFF's ramping up of the YD Square events is one of the best additions to the festival, I think.
