I've read that they're changing the red carpet arrivals at Roy Thomson Hall this year. Does anybody know where the limos will be dropping off the stars, where they'll be walking, and where the "fans" will get to stand?

The Red Carpet, From what I was told briefly at the Volunteer Session and have read in publications, it is going to be on Metro Hall Square which is the square that is just behind Roy Thomson Hall, with King, John and Wellington being the three streets that surround it.
There will be one side for media and one side for fans and the celebrities will exit the red carpet and enter through the artists' entrance off Wellington -- where there is a parking area and where they normally leave from after the screening (normally marked by all their limos.
The red carpet is away from the main entrance this year so if you are attending the screening you will not be able to see any of it.Posted 2 years ago # -
That's a damn shame. Part of the fun of waiting in line is watching everyone arrive. Did it cause some kind of problem last year? I recall they blocked that entire street in front of the RTH; maybe traffic issues? And what's worse is most people end up on the Balcony for RTH shows. Now you'll hardly get a glimpse of the filmmakers because of the absurd distance from the screen/stage. For $40 a ticket, you don't get much, huh? Ah, well - all the more reason to stick to the regular screenings at Ryerson, my favourite venue.

I agree. What a shame. I thought the whole point of going to the Galas was to feel like you were part of something grand and exciting with the chance to watch the stars enter the screening. Not sure I see the point of paying $40 a ticket if you're just going to be schlepped up to the balcony. Plus no Q&A!

I went by Roy Thomson Hall at lunch today. They were setting up the red carpet. Looks really good. Much bigger area for fans than in the past. Plus a longer (covered) walkway for the stars to be interviewed and photographed by the media.
My suspicion is that the limos will enter/exit from Wellington and exit/enter onto King. They can let off the stars in front of the stage in the centre of Metro Square. They're setting up spotlights and a video camera(?) on a crane, and I'm wondering if the stars themselves will take to the stageā¦
Here are some pics I took with my cell phone:

http://twitpic.com/h3jrhThe area is on the opposite side of RTH as the main entrance, so people going into the theatre won't see the red carpet activity.

I'm going to try and check out the RTH red carpet on Friday, maybe catch a glimpse of George Clooney.

I got there too late to see George Clooney or Ewan McGregor (drat!), but I did see Michael Moore (although everybody sees Michael Moore--he actually goes to films, he doesn't just show up at his own movie). Some tar sands protesters were lying on the ground getting in the way. Israel, tar sands, what's with all the protesters at TIFF?
Definitely want to go Sunday night for the Precious red carpet arrivals. Oprah!
