I attended my first TIFF years ago, and when I first heard this happen during the piracy warning, I laughed so hard, and thought someone was really clever to think of that. It was still funny when I realized it was a TIFF tradition and many people did it. Then at subsequent festivals, it got old, but it was funny how people were still doing it, despite it getting stale. Now it's just annoying, because every fvcking screening, you just anticipate it to happen, and wait for it to end. I think its embarrassing, especially when you think of the actors/filmakers sitting there, thinking what the hell that is, and how silly us Canadians must be. What do you think?
When will "Arghh" die?

agree with the posting. like streaking, the idea was clever but soon became boring and copycat. but it is a tradition. NICE RESPONSE ALAN!!!

If they stopped making the piracy announcement then there would be no chance for people to go "Arghhhh!" I mean, who doesn't already know you are not allowed to pirate a movie at TIFF (or anywhere else for that matter)?

if tiff was smart, they would capitalize by selling T-shirts that read "Arggg! Midnight Madness / TIFF" or something like that.
it's a tradition though and a fun one :)
